Sandy Racklyeft BVSc
Sandy
Sandy Racklyeft shares ownership and Directorship of the Clinic with Debbie and works with small animals and cattle.
Born in Bathurst on a small property, the son of a business manager father and physiotherapist mother, he was inculcated with the love of country, and of the benefits of the special spirit embodied in a small town.
After graduating from Sydney University Sandy’s first job was in the Clare Valley, S.A. where he enjoyed the (Reisling) fruits of his labours in particular. Then a year at Mount Gambier/Penola (Cab/Sav!) in mixed practice, before spending the next 7 years in the U.K. This included several locum positions, 4 years of intensive small animal work at the Central London Emergency Clinic, and some travels. Finally, it was the turn of the Semillon berry to beckon him to the Hunter Valley, starting Satur Veterinary Clinic in 1989. Sandy's interests include reading, the evolution of home design, ancient history, rare trades and children’s education. Wine comes in there too somewhere. He loves coaching his son’s cricket and soccer teams. Travel is a constant lure and he was recently able to orchestrate the family’s extremely busy and intricate “long-service” leave holiday around the world!  Favourite stops on the hit list were the Painted Monasteries of Bucovina in northern Romania, and India where there were "ten fields of fascination in every eyeful" They also had reunions with friends and family in the U.K., and -in a castle on the Rhine! - with 8 of 10 German students who have done work experience tours to Satur Veterinary Clinic over the last 15 years.
His ambition is to be always satisfied that all our clients, staff and patients are happy. And, above all, to have a happy, healthy family.
